Why are Blood oranges red?

Blood oranges are red due to the presence of anthocyanins, a type of antioxidant pigment rarely found in citrus but common in berries and flowers. Similar to how Cara Cara oranges are pink due to an antioxidant known as lycopene!

Where are oranges native to?
