![]() SUNKIST "TAKE A STAND®" DESIGN CONTEST Since 2004, Sunkist's tradition of encouraging and recognizing kids' support of charity across the country has activated more than 65,000 kids from every state in the U.S. and every province in Canada to sign up to Take a Stand for a charity close to their heart. The award-winning cause-marketing program encourages young people to give back to their community by donating their earnings from a good old-fashioned lemonade sale. Since its inception, the Take a Stand program has raised an estimated $3 million for charity by kids, one glass of fresh-squeezed Sunkist® lemonade at a time. This past summer, Sunkist invited kids 5-12 years old across America to Take a Stand for their favorite charity and design their own lemonade stand, integrating their personality, hometown and key elements about the charity of their choice. Fans of the Sunkist Facebook page voted for the Take a Stand® kids' fun and creative lemonade stand designs in three rounds. All the entries were fantastic and Sunkist congratulates all who participated for raising money for charity one cup of Sunkist lemonade at a time! The first 50 eligible stands that posted to the page received a free T-shirt, and the three grand-prize winners received a $100 grocery gift card and matching funds for fresh lemonade stand sales up to $500 for the charity of their choice. 2009 Sunkist Take a Stand Winners Round 1 Winner Danielle’s daughter Mandy decided to “take a stand” and sell fresh-squeezed lemonade this summer to benefit Surfers Healing so the charity could continue to enrich the lives of children with autism and the lives of their families by exposing them to the unique experience of surfing. Mandy’s own brother is autistic and benefits from this great organization. Round 2 Winner Kay's daughter Mallory sold fresh-squeezed lemonade this summer to benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Cincinnati, the largest and most effective youth mentoring organization in the United States whose mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-on-one relationships with mentors that have a measurable impact on youth . Round 3 Winner Joy's son Maxwel raised money for Catching Joy, a non-profit organization that promotes volunteerism in pre-school and elementary aged children whose mission it is to help raise more caring, compassionate, confident and joyful children who grow up to be productive, responsible and happy adults.
